The leaves are making me sneeze.

HELLLOOOOOOO!!! :) Seriously. I think it's the moldy leaves. They're killing me. I don't think I've ever had this bad of allergies. Woowee. But I'll live. Thank heavens it's almost time for it to snow!

This week was a little crazy...but it was good. On Monday, we did the regular ol' P-day stuff then we went shopping and I succeeded at helping a companion buy a nice winter coat. This time was even more expensive than Sister Cldwll's. $280 later, Sister Sssns has a Marmot. haha :) (Her dad is very proud of her now – He love's his Marmot) Success. She loves it though. Then we went to Charming Charlie (I've finally been to one mom!) and I got a shirt and dress on clearance for $30. Wahooo! Then we went to dinner at Chick-fil-A with the Bmn's and Ang. They are all awesome people. Love them. Then afterward, the Fishers Sisters came and we exchanged!

So I headed off to Fishers with Sister Clysn! It was a great and busy day. In the mornin' we had some crazy studies cause of conference calls, went to the YMCA for service (got to fold towels and do some filing), finished up studies, had lunch, then went to work! It was pourin' but we went out tracting and found a new investigator! Wahoo! Then we went and had an appointment with a lady named Brbr. She's an older lady who loves her dog and loves being a Baptist. But she's interested in family history, so hopefully that'll get her! Then we taught...well tried to teach...a guy named Jss but he only knows Spanish and he was drunk haha. Definitely getting turned over to the elders. Then we went and contacted a referral and saw a less active then had dinner and went to teach an English class to a lady who speaks Arabic...Interesting. haha There's a reason I went to an English speaking mission!

Wednesday, Sister Sssns went up to Warsaw with Sister Nvrr for a funeral, so I did a trio with Sister Rh and Sister Blmn. We spent the morning with the Flnrs and the Stglrs then we had lunch and headed to Zionsville. We found a new investigator! Wahoo! And taught a bunch of people...it was awesome. And some members fed us some really good hamburgers. Yum. Then we came back to Carmel, taught Mk (the guy we found the day of transfers) with Sister Wshbrn and it was so good except then he texted us on Friday and said he did his research on the Church of Mormon and doesn't want to learn anymore :( [Stinking anti-material! It's awful around here], stopped and saw Bb (Flnr's nephew), and taught the Smth's cause they had cookies for us. Then I was companions with Sister Smthhrt for a little bit til Sister Sssns got home cause the Zionsville Sisters had to leave.

Thursday, we went and painted for Sbrin in the morning then we had lunch and weekly planned. Anl ditched us in the afternoon and changed his phone number so we went finding and ended up tracting into a less-active, so that was fun :) Love when that happens. Then we went to see Mry with Sister Clmn and she just really wasn't havin' it, so we gently dumped her and went and taught another investigator who just had twins. Then we went to see the Brk's and then headed to Sister Hthwy's for Sbrn's Bridal Shower. We had to ditch a little bit early to go to Ang's baptismal interview. She passed! Wahhoooo! She's getting baptized this Saturday! She's so awesome! I'm so sad that she's moving by the end of November, but she says she'll come visit.

Friday, we had MLC, so we had 6 sisters in the apartment that day gettin' ready then we headed off to Fishers for our meetings. It was a really good meeting. A lot about the Book of Mormon. I think sometimes we forget how awesome the Book of Mormon is. It's so powerful. Love it. Then afterward, we had dinner at the Clrvx's and had it in the hallway because the elders came and didn't have another man so we had to eat in "public" haha. It was fun. Except I got spaghetti on my new dress. But hopefully it'll come out. Then we went to see the Flnrs with Brk Sdr and then we went and taught Ang with Sister Hlt. They are both firecrackers and energetic. Holy hannah.

Saturday, we had Relief Society Super Saturday in the morning/afternoon and we got to help with some service and made some Christmas decorations and some rosettes. It was fun. They had soup for lunch too...so it was souper. :) Then we went to teach Ambr, tried to go teaching with Brother Brghm but no one was home, contacted a referral with Sister Stdmn (awesome couple from California who just needs some friends out here...their doctor in Cali is a mormon and referred them!), went to dinner at the Mllrs, then taught Ang with Sister Tlls. Same ol'...just great. :)

Sunday was a day of meetings. We had coordination, PEC, church, and then a stake correlation meeting with the Stake President, President Cleveland, the high councilman over missionary work, and all the zone leaders and STL's from the stake. It was a good day though. Ang got a blessing too and loved it. She bawled. She's SO READY! GAAAAHHHH!! I keep sayin' it. But it's true :) We had dinner with the Strns and went to Why I Believe. The Schmlfldts brought me molasses bread! (We shared the recipe for molasses bread with them – one of Darcie's favorites!)Wahoo! It's the best. They've been practicing. haha. I got to see Sister Pfl and Sister Cbb from Plainfield and Brother Wss and Sister Jcksn from Greencastle. So great. I love Why I Believe.

And here we are again on Monday. Can't believe it's Week 4. Insane.

A thought from this week was in Mosiah 22. The Nephites had been in bondage for years to the Lamanites when Ammon shows up and finds them. I think it's interesting that when this finally happens, Gideon gets a prompting of how to help the Nephites escape. It struck me that the spirit speaks when we NEED it to, not when we WANT it to. Gideon and the Nephites probably would have preferred if that prompting would have come a few (or a lot) of years earlier, but they obviously had something to learn. I think that really applies to our lives in the way that we sometimes have to go through hard things with what seems like to be no way out, but God will deliver us when it's time. We just gotta be patient.

To answer letters:

I'm excited for basketball. Hopefully the Aggies are good. Is the kid from Indy a mormon? (One of the players on USU's basketball team is from Indiana – no he is not a member)

Sad to hear about Robert Mendoza. It seems like yesterday we were all in elementary school. (A friend of Zachary's who just passed away)

For Christmas, I don't really want anything that I have to pack home. You can send me the box of the stocking and decorations, those are fun, and I'll probably just send them home again...but wait til After Dec. 2nd so I don't have to move them at transfers if I get transferred. :) And as far as for Christmas, I don't really have any immediate needs...maybe 2 pairs of wool socks...and just all your homemade candy. I don't need anything really I don't think. I'm just wearing out my clothes and shoes so I can leave them all here when I come home.

Dad, you'll get PMG done eventually, so it's fine. :) (Darcie challenged us both to read Preach My Gospel – as you can see Dad is accomplishing that goal – guess I'll wait till she gets home and then she can make me read it!) And I can't believe the giants won. Yuck. But glad it went to 7!(results from the World Series - she's still loves sports)

Peace and Blessin's.

First snow? Check.

That's right. It officially snowed on Halloween so the winter has begun. Wahoooo! It was fun. I'm excited for the snow, not so much for it to be dark at like 5 but it'll work out. :)

This week was great...definitely a learning one, but a great one :)

So last Monday, we did the normal P-Day stuff then we went to Fishers to play. We played some serious Zone Dodgeball. It was pretty intense :) Then that night, we had dinner with the Bmn's at Chick-fil-A and then shared a message with them then we stopped by a less-active's and ended up teaching her mom and got a return appointment to go see them both. Wahoo!

Tuesday, we started out the morning and taught a lady named Shrn...she basically talked our ear off then when we tried to teach she told us she wasn't interested...but we planted the seed, so that's all that matters! And she knows this famous person that Sister Sssns loves, so it made her happy haha :) Then we had lunch and went to do service for Sbrn. We about got the room done. She did start having cramps yesterday, so we were worried that we wouldn't be able to get the room done, but she's good. So we'll hopefully get it wrapped up this week. Then we went and taught Bn with Dmnk (she just got baptized in May) and it was great. She was the perfect fellowshipper and could relate to a lot of his concerns. Then we were supposed to teach a lady with Sister Clmn but the lady bailed so we went and saw Ik's lady friend and it ended up that Ik moved out so we taught her and have a follow up appointment with her this week. Then we went and ate dinner with Ang (she cooked us Dominican...SO GOOD) and taught her about baptism and she's moving it up! Wahooo! November 15th! She's so ready and we asked her what would be holding her back from us moving up her date and she said she was scared God would give her too many blessings and she'd be too happy...seriously...this girl kills me. She's READY! Wahooo Again! :)

Wednesday, we were on exchanges, so I was here in Carmel with Sister Frncs. It was a good day! We started off teaching Tn, but she basically dropped us because she needs to figure her junk out I guess. She could be so elect but she wants to be a hermit. But soon, she will be golden :) Then we went to teach with Sister Hthwy but our appointment fell through so we went to see a less-active with her, who came to the trunk or treat and church! Wahoo! Miracles happen! Then we went out contacting. Nothing too crazy. Talked to some people...a guy with burrito running all down his face and hand...the usual...haha :) Then we had dinner at the Jhnsn's with Ang, taught Grtchn with Sister Wshbrn (she is excited about the Book of Mormon!), then went and taught the Mllr's, which Sister Mllr just got baptized last December and Brother Mllr works on the temple.

Thursday, we did weekly planning, went to teach Crl with Sister Ft and she is getting it and realizing the importance. She'll have to meet with us more often to make her Nov. 22nd date, but I think as she studies the Book of Mormon more consistently, she'll get there! Then we finished up Weekly Planning and then went and carved pumpkins with Sm Stglr and taught him. They were pretty sweet pumpkins. Then we had dinner at Mud Bugs with Sister Hwll. Those hushpuppies are bomb. Then we had a cancelled appointment so we saw Sister Clssr then picked up Sister Smthhrt and went to teach Ang. She LOVES the Law of Chastity. She's gotta be golden, right? :) Everything just logically makes sense. It's the best.

Friday, we went and got our flu shots at CVS (a little sketch...think I'll stick with Walgreens from now on...haha) then we had district meeting. I dressed up like a pumpkin...aka I wore an orange shirt with a green scarf. I hate dressing up. :) Then we went to Panda for lunch, went to teach Sister Bmn cause she had a rough day Monday, went and taught the Flnrs, then tried a couple people...totally tried to tract on Halloween and convinced some people we were trick-or-treaters dressed up as Mormon Missionaries and they believed us (one we thought was a member's house but turns out it wasn't so it was pretty funny. Whoops. Then we got to hang out at the Prdds' for a little bit and have pizza and hand out candy and then we went to stop by Sister Hstn to do the same. It was pretty fun. Pretty cold weather for trick-or-treating, but it's like Utah where you need to make your costume big enough for the snow suit to fit under. Not many people here do that.

Saturday, we went and taught Ambr and her friend in the morning. Her friend is interested in learning more! Wahoo! They both came to the trunk-or-treat that night too. Then we went and rode with Ang down to White River for a baptism. It was all in Spanish, so Ang understood it, but not us hahaha. It was awesome though. Definitely clicked for her. We got to see Elder Hjlm, Elder Estr, and Elder Ws, so that was fun. Elder Ws gave a talk in Spanish. You'll have to tell his family that he's doing really well! Then we went to lunch at Applebee's (finally used those giftcards), went and saw a less-active, and then went and gave a church tour. We ended up helping set up the trunk-or-treat after and then I judged the desserts and Ang judged the cornbread. It was a fun night and we had a really good turnout. I dressed up as Brother Flnr with his trucker hat and suspenders. Grandpa would be proud. :) Then we went to see the Smth's to take them our miles and share a message. He's the Car Czar and we were talking about accidents and then when we pulled into our carport, I hit the stupid pole in the middle of it. So I have officially caused damage to a mission car :( I was super ticked, but we'll see what ends up happening. I may not drive for the rest of my mission. But whatevs. Then we tried to find the phone to call him and we couldn't find it, so we used the Smthhrts, planned, and enjoyed our extra hour of sleep.

Sunday, we headed to church and had the prompting to look on the front lawn for our phone and we found it with a layer of ice on it! But it works! Wahoo! Then we went about church, Ang and Crl and her granddaughter came, had super good lessons, good fast Sunday, just a good Sabbath :). Then we had a lesson that Sister Hwll took us to but she ended up having to cancel because her grandma had just had a stroke like seriously 30 minutes before we got there so we went to teach Ang. Then we went and taught a lady named Lnd whose brother was learning from the Elders before he died and wanted to be baptized, so one of the Elders talked to her about baptism for the dead, so we went and talked to her about it and got the info and hopefully will be teaching her! But not til December cause she works from like 9 am - 8:30 pm...crazy. Then we had dinner with the Rprs, saw Sister Drff, and went to see Sister Stdmn cause she had just got back from North Carolina.

And here we are. We had to go get an estimate on the car this morning and will finish up our normal p-day stuff and see where life takes us. Should be good.

Yes it was Zach's Birthday Letter. I already told him it'd be late. (a letter for Zach came to our house – she must have forgotten his address)

I'm glad you got to see Meet the Mormons. It was so good. Spirit-topia! (It was really good – I judge a movie on whether or not I stay awake – Never nodded once!)

I've had 1 companion from Utah, which is the crazy part. Lots from Idaho. (Also Colorado, Arizona, & North Carolina)

Well something I learned this week is from something called "The Fourth Missionary" by Lawrence Corbridge. It's so good. You should all read it cause it applies to more than just full-time missionaries. He talks about in Mosiah 2 (same chapter as last week...evidence that Mosiah is the best) where it says that we are IMMEDIATELY blessed when we obey. We lots of times think blessings are things we'll have to wait for. But the blessing really does come immediately and that is the blessing of change. As we obey, we change. Our character changes and we refine ourselves, which is our whole purpose of being here on earth. So always remember that you are IMMEDIATELY blessed for obedience! Totally worth it!

LOVE YOU! Have a great first week of November! Time flies! It's Christmas music time!

Peace and Blessin's...

Monday, November 3, 2014

I swear I was just writing about Halloween last year...

Well I'm here in Carmel here with Sister Sssns! Wahhooo! She was companions with Sister Hwrd and served by Sister O'Brn. So it's pretty sweet. Lovin' it already!

Okay, so Monday, after we got done emailing, we washed the car and then just played at Fishers and then I said adios to Sister Hwrd. It was sad, but she was getting more excited to go home, so she held it together pretty well haha. So afterward, Sister Blckr (she killed off her companion Sister Nmnn too) and I came back to Carmel, went to the Wllms' for dinner, had FHE with them, and then went and taught Crl. She finally answered after she dropped off the side of the earth for a week. Yayyyy! :)

Tuesday, we had a busy day. We went out and taught with Sister Hthwy in the morning, had to pick up a prescription for Sister Blckr, had lunch with the Smthhrts (they made us omelettes! Yum.), then went and taped (Prepared for painting) for Sbrn. We're gettin' there on getting her room done. Taping takes FOREVER. Then we had an appointment cancel and no backups were home so we taught the Flnr's then we went to see Mnc with Abr Brwn. Mnc dumped us. She totally felt the spirit and got scared and wouldn't take a Book of Mormon. Darn. But we planted a couple three seeds, so it's alright. She'll come around :) Then we were supposed to see Bn but he wasn't home so we talked to his wife a little bit and got to see his baby then we did a little bit of tracting and found a new investigator named Trn. It was pretty awesome because she happened to be over at her 99 year old neighbor's house helping her and we got to teach her and then went to get her actual address and they have a no soliciting sign on the door, so we wouldn't have been able to knock her door. Miracle. Then we went to see a part-member family, the Kng's. They are SO COOL. Brother Kng got jaded when his ex-wife was basically not a very good Mormon, so he hasn't been to church in a long time, but he's willing to give it a shot and his daughter wants a Book of Mormon and to come to church and I'm pretty sure his wife would come with. Wahoo! I love part-member families. They're the bomb. Then we went to the Bmn's for taco night in their little hotel room.

Wednesday, we had transfers. Then we had lunch at Subway. Then we had our STL meeting. Then we came back, grocery shopped, dropped off luggage, and then headed out to work. We went tracting, which Sister Sssns is terrified of, and we found 2 new investigators! Wahoo! It was awesome! Then we saw the Hymre's and taught the Flnr's. They want to get their patriarchal blessings. They're so excited. Then we had dinner with Sister Ft then went and taught Ang. We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it's so hilarious cause she's like basically bored with the basics cause she just knows it all cause of the spirit. I love it. She is like "Where's the meat!?" It's awesome. Love her.

Thursday, we were supposed to go teaching with Sister Hthwy but everyone loves to not be home so we ended up having lunch and weekly planning and then trying to see a lady earlier but our schedule got all crazy. But it worked. haha. Then after weekly planning, we went and saw Anl. He's just getting less and less open and more and more defensive, I think because of the same reason as Mnc. He felt the spirit and knew he had to change so he's being defensive. But whatevs. Then we were supposed to teach with Sister Pllng, but someone cancelled again. I don't remember what we did instead of that...but then we had dinner with Sister Crzr then went back and taught one of the new investigators we had found on Wednesday named Mk. He is SO READY! He was Pentecostal but then they started changing based on the world so now he's a non-denominational, but they're also doing like sermons in pubs and such and he just knows it isn't right. So he is a hardcore truth seeker. He's so awesome. We put him on a baptismal date for Dec. 20th.

Friday, our District Meeting got cancelled cause Elder Rsmssn sprained his ankle... so we went and saw Stcy to set up an appointment and taught Sister Prdds. Then we had lunch, went and taught Crl with Sister Flnr, then we were supposed to teach a lady with Sister Clvlnd but she bailed so we saw the Flnr's with Sister Clvlnd instead. Then we had a lesson at the mission office with a lady named Wndy (she does the senior missionaries' hair). She is just in a really, really low spot and needs the gospel. It was a very emotional lesson for her, probably overwhelming, so we'll see where things go...kinda crazy. But it was good. Then we went to Sister Clrvx for dinner (she had forgotten so she ran and got pizza) then saw Sister Tglr and she gave us the best applesauce ever. Weeedooggies it was good.

Saturday, we painted a ton for Sbrn then went and taught Ang and her friend Rbyn. They are like the same human. So prepared for the gospel. We took Brnn with us. It was an awesome lesson about the Word of Wisdom. They both loved it. Then Sister Clrvx made us fried plantains...definitely different but they were good! Then we had dinner (waffles!) with the Sdrs and then taught Ambr after and someone else but I don't remember...

Sunday, we went about church (Crl, Ang, and Rbyn came and all 3 loved it! Wahoooo!) then we had lunch. We went out and contacted some referrals, went to the Brwn's for dinner, were supposed to do a church tour but they bailed, then we went to see the Hwlls and ended up getting crepes. Then I realized my planner was gone so we went back to the church to find it and we frantically looked all around, prayed, and found it in the parking lot hahaha. Typical. Then we went and taught Rck with Sister Prdds. He is such a faith filled guy, he just needs the confirmation that it's all true. He's the one leaving for Ukraine, so hopefully we'll get him baptized before he leaves!

And here we are, P-Day again! Wahoo!

I don't see too many questions in this week's letters...so I guess that's it. haha.

My thought for this week is from Mosiah 2 (probably one of my favorite chapters in the whole BoM). In verse 36, it talks about how if WE transgress, WE withdraw the spirit from ourselves. It isn't that the spirit doesn't want to be with us, it's that we walk away from Him and ignore Him. I like King Benjamin's dedication to being obedient. He definitely was a disciple of Jesus Christ. My commitment is to NEVER postpone a prompting cause we don't want to walk away from the Holy Ghost do we?

Love you all! Have a great Halloween (the worst holiday of the year...) (She has never liked Halloween)

Peace and Blessin's
-Sista Darc

With Sister Hwrd before she left.

With Sister Crpntr since we didn't get a picture before.

With Sister Clrvx. And a fried plantain.
Fried plantains. (reminds me of Cool Runnings "Your bananas are stinking up the place!")

(Sister O'Brn, Sister Hwrd, Mom, Dad We were able to attend Sister Hwrd's homecoming and met Sister O'Brn, too – So this is Darcie's first and last companions)
